<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>The data is created using geometric measurements in ArcGIS software, 1999 Digital Orthophoto Quadrangles, and survey information from the state surveyors website. The representation of the sections are based on the rules designated by the state surveyor (instructions to county surveyors can be found at http://www.sso.nebraska.gov/pdf/harvey1914.pdf), and are an interpretation of of the public land survey system(PLSS) created by DWEE mapping section personnel to the best of our ability using modern technology software.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
This dataset was developed as an internal use only dataset to the Department of Water, Energy and Environment to assist in fullfilling its duties of permitting surface water appropriations, and is not intended to be used as survey-grade data or any other legal purposes.

Most of the original data was digitized from 7 1/2 quad maps where they were available. This digitized information was processed on a PC with a FORTRAN program and then plotted at 100% scale and overlayed on the original to verify the accuracy. Many checks were programmed into the FORTRAN program to help correct or identify inaccuracies. Other error checking and correcting was accomplished using visual inspection, Paradox 3.0 and Arc/Info 6.0 and later Arc/Info 7.0.

The section corner codes were checked against a list of valid codes through a FORTRAN program on a PC. Additional checks were made on an Arc/Info workstation. All codes were valid. Maps were generated and a 100% visual check was approved. All data was checked several times through several error checking programs in Arc/Info 6.0 and 7.0 to determine if there were any section corners left unattributed or corners with wrong attributes.

In most cases the information was digitized from 7 1/2 USGS quadrangles maps. In areas where they were not complete or we did not have them, the 15-minute series was used.
Completeness of the dataset was reviewed after completion of point generation process from 7 1/2 USGS quadrangle maps.
