Spatial Information is updated annually and the end of the year and represents data on the ground from the previous years irrigation season.
<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>The Department of Water, Energy and Environment (DWEE) uses spatial representations of Certified Acres (CA), or areas of land which can legally be irrigated for groundwater use, surface water use, or a mix of the two (comingled). In Nebraska, the Natural Resources Districts (NRDs) are the entity responsible for groundwater permitting, and DWEE is responsible for surface water permitting. Spatial data of CA is used by DWEE for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to: Use as an input in models that calculate water balance, determine crop type, determine irrigation status, verify progress toward DWEE and NRD shared goals, ensure compliance with intra- and interstate agreements, observe conservation practices and trends, assess NRD water use transfers, to assess water usage on a variety of spatial scales, and to use generally in other applicable circumstances. Generally, spatial representations of CA data are made on an annualized basis. DWEE does not produce any of the groundwater-only CA spatial representations. Spatial representations of groundwater-only and NRD-attributed comingled CA are produced, maintained, provided by, and the responsibility of the individual NRDs. Data represented in this layer may not match exactly with data that is used in models or other analyses. These spatial representations do not indicate areas of land that is irrigated in the year it represents, only the legally allowed possibility to irrigate. In this dataset, CPNRD groundwater-only and NRD-indicated comingled is represented using data from 2020.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
This feature class contains spatial representation of irrigable (Permitted) acres in the State of Nebraska including Groundwater Permitted Acres, Surface Water Permitted Acres, DWEE Commingled Acres, and NRD Commingled Acres. This data currently represents conditions for the irrigation year 2023. Data for Surface Water Permitted Acres was provided by the Nebraska Department of Water, Energy and Environment (DWEE). Data for Groundwater Permitted Acres was provided by Nebraska's Natural Resources Districts (NRDs). Permitted acres consist of irrigable acres that are certified or permitted to be irrigated but are not necessarily irrigated during the given year. The Department makes no claims that these permitted acres have or have not received irrigation from Surface Water or Groundwater sources for the given year.

Central Platte Sourced Groundwater (NRD) data was received during Robust Review directly from the NRD and represents the irrigation year 2019.
Lower Big Blue Sourced Groundwater (NRD) data was retrieved via ____________ and represents the irrigation year 2021. Surface Water (NeDNR) data for all Natural Resources Districts in the state came from Nebraska DNR.
